ACC Insurance Notice & Liability Disclaimer
Nichtmitgliederversicherung & Haftungsausschluss
This page explains the basic sports insurance benefits ACC members may receive through the BLSV system, as well as the insurance coverage, fees, and liability disclaimer for non-member participants in ACC activities.
1. Member Insurance Notice (BLSV / ARAG Sportversicherung)
ACC is connected to the BLSV (Bayerischer Landes-Sportverband, Bavarian State Sports Association) through Chinesischer Sportverein München. Registered ACC members are usually within the basic BLSV and ARAG sports insurance framework when taking part in officially organized ACC or association activities, including cycling training, group rides, workshops, meetings, and some association events.
Main areas of protection:
Accident insurance (Unfallversicherung): If a sports accident happens during an official club activity, members may apply for basic accident coverage under the BLSV–ARAG sports insurance terms. This is supplementary protection alongside personal health insurance and private insurance; it is not a full replacement for medical or private accident insurance.
Liability insurance (Haftpflichtversicherung): If a member negligently causes injury to another rider, pedestrian, or third party, or damages third-party property during a club activity, the BLSV–ARAG liability insurance provides basic liability protection for the club and its members.
Extended criminal legal protection (Erweiterter Straf-Rechtsschutz): If a cycling accident leads to a criminal investigation or allegation, such as negligent bodily harm, the insurance may support defense costs according to the policy terms.
Travel to and from activities (Wegeversicherung): The direct journey to or from an official club activity is one of the scenarios mentioned in the BLSV sports insurance information.
Volunteer and organizer protection: Ride leaders, coaches, event organizers, and other volunteers acting for the club may also fall under VBG accident insurance and volunteer-related protections described by BLSV, in addition to ARAG sports insurance.
Club operations protection: The BLSV–ARAG framework also includes D&O, fidelity, environmental liability, and other protections aimed at reducing management and financial risk for clubs.
Cases that should not be assumed to be automatically covered: Private rides, activities not officially organized by ACC or its association structure, commercial activities, significant deviation from the activity route, or behavior outside the policy terms should not simply be treated as covered by member insurance. Cross-state or international trips, races entered under a different organizer, and event-specific rules must be assessed according to official terms and the actual organizing structure.

Disclaimer: This notice is a summary intended to help ACC members understand basic insurance benefits within the BLSV framework. All policy details, coverage scope, claim conditions, and exclusions are governed by the official BLSV insurance pages, ARAG insurance documents, and applicable German law. ACC helps members understand the information but does not make claim decisions, provide binding insurance interpretation, or assume joint indemnification liability.
2. Non-Member Insurance (Nichtmitgliederversicherung)
To protect every participant in ACC events, we purchase a group insurance policy through BLSV (Bayerischer Landes-Sportverband, Bavarian State Sports Association) for all non-ACC-member participants, underwritten by ARAG.
Covered persons: All registered participants who are not ACC members.
Coverage includes:
Accident Insurance (Unfallversicherung): Covers costs arising from cycling accidents including medical treatment, disability, etc. Standard medical costs remain covered by personal health insurance; this policy covers serious accidents.
Third-Party Liability (Haftpflichtversicherung): If you negligently cause bodily injury or property damage to a third party during the event (e.g. colliding with another person's vehicle), this insurance covers reasonable compensation.
Criminal Legal Protection (Straf-Rechtsschutz): If a cycling accident leads to a criminal investigation or charges (e.g. negligent bodily harm), this covers legal defence costs.
Return Trip Coverage (Rückweg): The direct journey home by bicycle or vehicle immediately after the event ends is also covered.
Coverage period: From arrival at the assembly point until the official end of the event (including direct return trip home).
Disclaimer: This is a summary only. All specific policy details, claim conditions, and exclusions are governed by the original ARAG insurance documents and applicable German law. ACC as event organiser provides this group coverage only and is not liable for insurance claim decisions or joint indemnification.
3. Participation Fee (Teilnahmegebühr)
Because ACC provides the above professional sports insurance coverage for every non-member, a small insurance administration fee is charged for non-ACC members:
| Participant category | Fee |
|---|---|
| Non-students | €2 per person |
| Students (incl. PhD students) | €1 per person |
| ACC full members | Free (included in annual membership fee) |
Payment: Please present your student ID (if applicable) to the ride leader at the start of the event and complete on-site payment.
Insurance prerequisite: Registration on the official website using your real name is required. Attendance records will be cross-checked in the event of a claim.
4. Leader Liability & Participant Responsibility (Haftungsausschluss)
ACC rides are non-commercial group rides and all ride leaders (Tourguides) are unpaid volunteers. By registering you acknowledge and agree to the following:
1. Volunteer nature & self-assumed risk (Gefälligkeit & auf eigene Gefahr)
This event is a voluntary mutual-aid group activity between cyclists, not a commercial guide service. Any fee collected is solely for non-member insurance and does not constitute a service contract (Kein Dienstleistungsvertrag). Participants bear full responsibility for their own safety and accept the inherent risks of cycling.
2. Independent compliance with traffic law (StVO & Eigenverantwortung)
Regardless of group formation, every participant is legally an independent road user and must strictly comply with German road traffic law (StVO). At intersections, traffic lights, or yield signs, each rider must independently assess road conditions — blindly following the ride leader is prohibited. Gesture-based route signals from the leader are voluntary assistance only; the leader accepts no legal liability for missed or incorrect signals.
3. Limitation of liability (Haftungsbeschränkung)
Except in cases of intent (Vorsatz) or gross negligence (grobe Fahrlässigkeit), ride leaders individually and ACC collectively disclaim all liability for any property or financial damage (Sach- und Vermögensschäden) suffered by participants during the event — i.e. liability for ordinary negligence (leichte Fahrlässigkeit) is excluded.
4. Safety authority (Weisungsrecht)
All participants must wear a helmet. The ride leader has the right to require any participant to leave the group at any time if their equipment presents a clear safety hazard, they commit serious traffic violations, or they engage in dangerous behaviour.
