ACC Member Charter & Liability Disclaimer
Member Charter · Code of Conduct · Haftungsausschluss
Welcome to Across Cycling Club, a section of Chinesischer Sportverein München. To help every participant enjoy cycling in a safe, professional, and friendly environment, ACC sets out the following member charter and liability disclaimer. By joining any ACC online or offline activity, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to this document.
ACC Core Values
We believe that a pure love of cycling should not come with internal pressure. ACC exists to make our own people feel at ease: members should be able to ride safely, speak freely, and grow naturally.
We reject meaningless power-number comparison, body anxiety, and gear anxiety. Speed, watts, frames, and equipment can be topics of conversation, but they should never define a rider’s worth.
ACC is a pressure-free cycling home base: a place where riders look after one another, stay united, start together, and come home together.
Part 1: Member Notes and Code of Conduct
Safety and discipline are the foundation of every ACC activity. The following rules apply to all official ACC activities, including social rides, training days, and multi-day tours.
1. Ride safety and equipment requirements
- No helmet, no ride: Everyone joining an ACC offline ride must correctly wear a bicycle helmet that meets safety standards for the entire ride.
- Equipment self-check: Members are fully responsible for the mechanical safety of their own or rented bicycle and equipment. Before every ride, check brakes, tires, drivetrain, and other key components.
- Low-light equipment: Night rides or rides in low visibility require working front and rear lights.
2. Group discipline and traffic law
- Strict StVO compliance: ACC routes may include public roads, whether paved or gravel. Participants must comply with German road traffic law (Straßenverkehrsordnung, StVO).
- Follow ride leader instructions: Official rides are guided by designated ride leaders who manage route guidance and group pace. Participants should respect and follow their on-site instructions. ACC has zero tolerance for dangerous riding, verbal abuse, or deliberate disruption of group discipline, and may immediately remove a participant from the activity.
- Do not leave without notice: If you need to leave early, rest separately, or change route during an activity, inform the ride leader or sweeper first.
- Ride within your ability: Choose activities that match your physical condition, health status, and cycling skills.
3. Environmental and community responsibility
- Leave no trace: Respect the natural environment in Bavaria and along all routes. Do not leave gel wrappers, bottles, or other waste behind.
- Respect one another: ACC is an inclusive international community. We do not encourage unnecessary pressure or comparison; we reject gear and body anxiety and promote mutual support and friendly exchange.
Part 2: Data Protection and Intellectual Property
- Data privacy: ACC respects and protects your privacy. Personal information provided during membership registration or event sign-up, such as name and contact details, is used only for club operations, event communication, and necessary insurance registration.
- Original content and sharing: Routes, training plans, workshop materials, and other content published on ACC’s website, communities, or social media belong to ACC and the original authors. Commercial use without authorization is prohibited.
- Group confidentiality: Members must not disclose private information from internal chats, unreviewed routes, or internal event plans to non-member third parties.
Part 3: Participation Conditions and Liability Disclaimer
This section includes legally relevant German wording. The English explanation is provided for convenience; the German text governs legal interpretation.
1. Participation conditions and self-assumed risk
ACC provides route suggestions and initiates activities. Participants understand that outdoor cycling involves inherent risks, including falls, traffic accidents, and equipment damage. Participants confirm that they are healthy enough to take part and accept all risks associated with participation.
2. Route changes and unforeseeable risks
ACC aims to plan safe routes, but cannot guarantee road surface conditions, gravel, wet roads, construction areas, or traffic conditions. Ride leaders may change the route or stop the activity at short notice based on weather, road conditions, or the group’s overall situation.
3. Limitation of liability
Except in cases of intent or gross negligence by ACC staff or assistants, ACC is not liable for personal injury, property damage, bicycle damage or loss, or third-party liability arising during activities. We strongly recommend that all members maintain appropriate private liability and accident insurance for cycling.
4. Image and media usage rights
To document community life and promote cycling culture, ACC and authorized people may take photos, videos, or audio recordings during activities. By participating, you grant ACC permission to use media containing your likeness on its website, social media, and internal communications free of charge. If you do not wish to appear in photos or videos, inform the photographer before the activity starts.
